With Susan and Mark's departure, my solo adventuring has began. Thus, this morning I took the train to Vevey and a taxi up to St. Legier where the Stockli ski store is located. Stockli is a premier Swiss ski company, highly regarded for their race skis. To my surprise, there are only about a dozen retail outlets for Stockli skis in Switzerland.
Initially, I did not intend to purchase a pair of Stockli skis for this adventure. After research and encouragement from my Sun Valley master ski coach (thank you Tommy Tweeten) I settled on the Stockli Laser AXs...a top rated, front-side allmountain ski. I am delaying posting a picture of my new Laser AXs. The face plate is light lizzard green with color matching Marker binding (ugh). It will be a colorful clash with my light blue ski boots.
The Stockli staff at St. Leiger were outstanding. I began correponding with the store manager 6 weeks ago. When I arrived this morning, the correct bindings were mounted, tension adjusted and the skis freshly tuned.
Now onward to start the ski season. I am planning a trip to Verbeir in early January after the New Year seasonal peaking has ebbed.
